Veteran fans of drag racing cannot thank enough racers like Bob Cook (and his wife, Pam) who work hard each season to help keep the memory going for the glory days of drag racing. Based out of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, the husband and wife team run an era-correct 1957 Corvette AA/GS car at various exhibition events. Powered by a Gellner Engineering-built 496ci big-block Chevy that is supercharged by an actual Hilborn Fuel Injection system, the over 1,000hp-rated car is pretty much over-the-top cool according to fans of all ages. The Corvette was built by Ed and Ray Kasicki (Shalersville, Ohio) and utilizes various period-correct components like a straight-axle frontend, a narrowed 9-inch rearend, and even replica American Racing wheels. Dubbed Crazy Grandpa, the Cook’s Corvette is a very popular fixture because of its awesome burnouts within the eighth-mile Ohio Outlaws and Geezer Gasser circuit events held primarily within the Midwest.
