Admiring fans of Gregory Bonds' spectacularly prepped '69 Chevy Camaro would probably never suspect its tragic past. Bonds' machine, which has gathered in both Best Engineered and Best Appearing awards within NHRA's Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, in fact rose from the ashes so to speak after enduring a major top-end crash during its early history. Now completely rebuilt, this modern-day version of the Jerry Bickel kit car was assembled by Dave Bickley Race Cars and features a 750hp, 406ci small-block and Powerglide transmission built by Mark Millhollin (Hot Rod Performance, Torrance, California). Gregory and his wife, Joyce, race their stunningly painted car (by Kelly & Son) from their home base in Compton, California, almost exclusively within NHRA's ferocious 9.90 indexed Division Seven war zone.
