er, 'white-colored rubber' is actually natural rubber. Initially all tires were this color, but, since they soon looked terrible (what with all the dirt and grime of early 'roads'), the tire makers began to add carbon black. Now, apparently, even 'white walls' have faded (pun intended) in obscurity!
