I knew a guy who got Toyota corporate to replace FOUR blown 6-speed transmissions on his Celica GT-S (1 due to misshift, other 3 due to worn synchroes... Toyota just replaces the entire thing).

The 6-speed transmissions on FWD cars are very weak because the gears and synchroes need to be thinner to fit in the same space as a 5-speed transaxle (FWD tranny is on the axle). This problem does not exist for RWD cars.

I destroyed two 6-speed transmissions on my Celica GT-S and Toyota of America replaced BOTH of them.

I have NEVER heard of Honda replacing a blown Acura RSX transmission.

Want to know why? Because Toyota can afford (or could afford) to eat the cost of replacing thousands of blown transmissions. It's probably the largest and most profitable carmaker in the world.

Honda is not.

If you've had trouble with shitty Toyota dealers (some are real jerks), just keep looking around until you find a good one or find a Toyota forum online to find a good one. I've had Toyota cover so many things under warranty just by asking nicely. Honda would (and could) never do such a thing.

You can get Lexus/Scion easily serviced at any friendly Toyota service center too, just find a good one, there are many. Although who knows, Toyota corporate headquarters have probably decided to reign in the freestyle spending for covering things under warranty these days.

Honda's a great company, great products, but it will be hit hard by the global economic recession. It is leaving Formula 1 after all.

Toyota has billions in cash reserves, it will survive.

American cars sux. Interior is crap exterior not much better... buying american car u dont help much our industry but idiots thats running it.

Lexus is good car... dont care what anyone say but cars like lexus bmw mercedes audi peugeot and renault are waaaaayyy better than any of our crap cars... maybe im not a patriot but im also not stupid and blind!

Gee. I guess I'll cross Lexus off my list for future vehicles. It was bad enough feeling guilty for buying a non-domestic vehicle. Then thinking that I'm giving my money to Japan over America and THIS is the crap they pull? I'll either stick with Lincoln, Cadillac, Mercedes and BMW - Lexus is now crossed off the list.
