Chevy could have picked any NASCAR driver piloting an SS-lookalike stock car to help build this SEMA vehicle, but given Gordon’s career history — and the fact he helped unveil the road-going 2014 SS sedan to the press last year in Daytona — he seems like a natural partner to help Chevy hype up its sports sedan.
Gordon’s race cars have traditionally born bright colors, so it’s fitting “his” 2014 SS concept wears satin fuscia paint, a color far wilder than his present race car. Stripes originating from the front fender vents boast his “24″ insignia,” while a custom grille insert, carbon fiber rear spoiler, and lowered ride height inject a little more attitude into the SS’ appearance. A Borla exhaust system is bolted up to the stock 415-hp 6.2-liter V-8, but that’s where the mechanical upgrades end. We’re just a little saddened Gordon didn’t push for a performance-oriented modification we’re all rooting for: a six-speed manual transmission.
