The first “FrankenCamaro†on display is the 2014 Camaro Performance Garage concept. Built from a 2014 Camaro SS, Chevy intended this concept to be track-oriented, which explains why it cribs quite a bit of hardware from the ZL1 and Z/28. The brakes and short-throw shifter are ZL1 parts raided directly from Chevrolet’s Performance catalog, while the short exhaust years, unique rear upper control arms, stabilizer bars, helical differential, brake cooling ducts, and dynamic spool valve dampers are all Z/28 parts. Chevy says the Z/28 parts are being “evaluated†for future a la carte release, but we hear their release is a safe bet. The Performance Garage concept also wears a ground effects package, a rear spoiler from the Accessories catalog, headlamps and taillamps borrowed from the uplevel RS trim package, and satin black 10-spoke wheels.
