Dodge revived the Challenger nameplate for 2008, with styling inspired by the beautiful 1970 original. A 5.7-liter 376-horsepower Hemi V8 gave the R/T plenty of power, but the performance leader was the Challenger SRT8 with its 6.1-liter 425-horsepower version of the same engine. Zero to 60 mph took less than five seconds, and the quarter-mile passed in just over 13 seconds. Based on the full-size LX platform, the Challenger SRT8 was big and heavy for a pony car, so it didn't handle as well as its contemporary Mustang and Camaro rivals, making it a modern interpretation of the original muscle machines
