La Masa called his roadster "the original American sports car," and looking at its channeled, low silhouette you can see what he meant. Channeled roadsters had been around for years (one was on HOT ROD's second cover), but La Masa's conveyed more of a refined, contemporary effort with its Vette engine, three-piece hood and integrated scoop, cycle fenders, and molded '40 Ford dash. An episode of The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet exposed millions to its sleek style.
