Looking exactly as it did on Hot Rod magazine’s (incorporating R&C no less!) Jan. ’77 cover, the Big Stan Johnson Plexiglas-hood-scooped, fenderwell-headered, and radiused wheelwell–equipped ’55 was a trip back in time for many. Above right: “Scrambler†was built and raced out of Phoenix, AZ, by Lowell Roemer and Dave Potillo between 1960 and 1965. Resurrected after 43 years in storage, its sympathetic restoration by Roemer and Blake machine retained the original paint and 302ci GMC engine
